In Vitro - In Natura

    

    

    

De laatste paar jaar houd ik mij als kunstenaar bezig met fotografie van allerlei zee-organismen, zoals zeenaaktslakken, krabben, vissen en zeeanemonen. Ik haal die dieren los van hun omgeving door de achtergrond digitaal zwart te maken of door ze in mijn studio op een zwarte achtergrond te fotograferen. Foto’s van die eerste methodiek noem ik In Natura (omdat ik die onder water heb gemaakt). De foto’s die ik in mijn studio heb gemaakt, noem ik In Vitro (letterlijk: in glas).

Voor exposities laat ik de foto’s printen op ChromaLuxe. Foto's in hoogglans op dit materiaal komen dichtbij het kijken naar een foto op een (uitstekend) beeldscherm! Uiteraard zijn deze prints ook te koop. De prijzen variëren afhankelijk van het formaat - van 20x20 tot 90x60 cm - tussen €100 en €800.
Daarnaast gebruik ik de foto's ook voor mijn weblog Mick's Marine Biology en mijn 'foto-encyclopedie' Mick's Marine Life.

The last few years I am occupying myself as artist in photographing all kind of sealife, like nudibranchs, crabs, fish and sea anemones. I isolate the animals by digitally removing their natural surrounding or to photograph the creatures in my studio against a black background. Photo’s of the first working method I call In Natura (because I took these photo’s under water). The photo’s taken in my studio I call In Vitro (literally meaning in glass). 

I have the photo’s printed on HD-metal for exposition purposes. Glossy photo's on ChromaLuxe are almost as brilliant as a photo on view at a (excellent) monitor! These prints are for sale in prices ranging between €100 and €800 depending on the dimensions (from 20x20 to 90x60 cm).
